The Laundry Project

USED aim to raise awareness about key issues of consumption and sustainability whilst introducing skills to help people reclaim ownership of their lives. We want this message to be accessible to everyone and personal situations shouldn’t stop anyone participating. Through community projects we feel that we can make positive change.

The Laundry Project was designed as a series of workshops exploring stories and opinions with a group of women who have experienced homelessness now, or in their past. Throughout the project USED and the women will work through creative processes and disciplines to stitch together stories and explore the key issues of the UK homeless.

This project has been supported by donors to the Goldsmiths Annual Fund and awarded funding from IdeasTap.

IdeasTap is a charity that funds, connects and nurtures new creative talent. It was launched in December 2008 as the arts platform of The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust. In the past year IdeasTap has supported young artists with around £200,000 of cash funding.

We aim to curate and present the work made during this project at an exhibition in May on Oxford Street, thanks to our friends, 3space.
